Spanish azabache in the Asturian region was part of the coal industry that has now essentially dried up. Spanish azabache, much like the British version, is much harder and valuable than the one found in the Americas. This azabache is sourced from Villaviciosa, Asturias. Spanish azabache is stronger and takes a much higher polish. The earrings feature Our Lady of Covadonga, patroness of Asturias also crafted in sterling silver.
